Capital Clean Energy Carriers Corp. (CCEC) announced the receipt of the world's first LCO2 carrier with a carrying capacity of 22,000 cubic meters, the "Active" from Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co., Ltd.
The vessel is designed to transport LCO2, while remaining fully competitive in the handy semi-refrigerated gas carrier market. These vessels have multi-cargo capability and can carry LCO2, LPG, ammonia and selected petrochemicals.
The “Active” stands out as the first ship in the world to incorporate next-generation low-pressure technology (8.0 barg / -55°C) for the transport of LCO₂. This technology increases transport capacity and reduces operating costs, offering a significant competitive advantage in an industry that is still in its early stages of development.
The ship has been chartered by a major energy company for six months to transport LPG, with the option to extend the agreement for another six months.
Jerry Kalogiratos, CEO of Capital Clean Energy Carriers Corp commented: “The delivery of the ‘’Active’’ marks another significant milestone in the company’s development. This unique series of LCO2/multi gas vessels strategically positions CCEC to support the emerging LCO2 transportation market, while offering the flexibility to operate in established gas markets.”
