The Capital Group ship Active, owned by shipowner Vangelis Marinakis, was honored with the "Ship of the Year" award at the Lloyd's List Greek Shipping Awards 2025.


It is noted that the newly built vessel Active was awarded, given that it was judged by the jury to be the first technologically innovative vessel worldwide out of the four liquefied CO₂ (LCO₂) vessels, with a capacity of 22,000 cubic meters.


The ship's innovative shipbuilding allows it to transport a wide variety of cargoes and petrochemicals, creating a new chapter in energy transformation technology and it is an innovative ship, as stated by the managing director of Capital Gas Ship Management, Miltos Zisis, who received the honorary award.


The shipping company Capital Clean Energy Carriers Corp., owned by Vangelis Marinakis, was also a sponsor of the International Personality of the Year award, which was awarded to Christopher J. Wiernicki, head of the American Classification Society ABS.

Christopher J. Wiernicki is considered one of the most influential figures in shipping and was honored for his many years of contribution to the seaworthiness of ships and the technological advancement of the maritime shipbuilding industry.
