Filing an appeal to the Council of State regarding the CO₂ storage project

The Island Environmental Association of Thassos informs its members, citizens and the media that the filing of a fully documented appeal to the Council of State against the carbon dioxide (CO₂) storage project in the maritime areas of Prinos - Thassos - Kavala and in the Thracian Sea, has been successfully completed.


The Association has received:

  • the scientific studies carried out by specialized scientists,

  • as well as the official appeal of our legal team, which was filed with the Council of State.


All of the above work was funded exclusively by the Island Environmental Association of Thassos, thanks to the financial support of the citizens of our island who believed in the fair, institutional and collective legal struggle for the protection of the environment and the future of Thassos.

The Association invited citizens to an open information event:

Saturday, January 10, 2026“Dream of Life” Center, Prinos, Thassos.A folk festival followed by free admission

The event presented a detailed information about the course of the legal battle and was followed by an open discussion.


Continuation of the Legal Struggle – Financial Assistance

The legal battle is at a critical stage and continues. The Association calls on those with a legal and professional interest on the island to financially support the continuation of the effort and the payment of the lawyers.
