Greek shipowner Neptune Lines is to retrofit two pure car carrier vessels with Value Maritime’s Filtree solution that provides an SOx scrubber and is carbon capture ready.

This will be the first installation of Valu

e Maritime’s technology on pure car carrier vessels, with units fitted on Neptune Tharros and Neptune Ethos, each with a 4,700 vehicle capacity.

The Filtree system meets the 98% SOx removal requirement for operation in SECA areas and achieves particulate matter removal efficiencies of 90% for PM2.5 and 99% for PM10.

The design is future‑proof, and can be upgraded to carbon capture capabilities, with onboard space reserved for the integration of Value Maritime’s Carbon Capture Duct.

Neptune Lines has selected the next generation 15MW configuration, with installations planned for summer 2026 in the Mediterranean.

“The more vessel types adopt decarbonisation solutions, the closer we move towards our goal of sustainable shipping. Greece is a market we have been developing for some time, and we are proud to sign this agreement ahead of meeting industry partners at Posidonia in Athens this June,” said Maarten Lodewijks, Co-founder and director of Value Maritime,

“Neptune Lines is committed to continuously improving the environmental performance of our fleet. Our goal is the delivery of all cargo in the most cost and carbon-efficient way. Partnering with Value Maritime allows us to implement a practical and future-ready solution that reduces emissions while maintaining operational efficiency. This project marks an important step in our broader decarbonisation strategy,” commented George Kriezis, technical director of Neptune Lines.

Specialised in the car transport business, Neptune Lines operates services for finished vehicles through a broad transportation network in Europe, Far East and the US. It can transport high & heavy vehicles, construction and agricultural equipment as well as oversized machinery and static cargo using roll-trailers.
